CHICAGO-STYLE HOT DOGS

In the Windy City, folks go for these saucy jumbo dogs in a big way, buying them at the ballparks and from street vendors. Serve 'em up with whole pickled peppers.

1/3 cup catsup
1/4 cup chopped pickled peppers
2 tablespoons pickle relish
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon poppy seed
4 fully cooked 4-ounce frankfurters
4 frankfurter buns, split

Stir together catsup, pickled peppers, relish, onion, and poppy seed in a small bowl; set aside.

For a charcoal grill, place frankfurters on the grill rack directly over medium coals. Grill, uncovered, for 8 minutes. Turn frankfurters and brush with some of the catsup mixture. Grill for 6 to 8 minutes more or until heated through.

For a gas grill, preheat grill. Reduce heat to medium. Place frankfurters on the grill rack; cover and grill as above.

To serve, toast cut sides of buns on grill. Serve frankfurters in the buns; top each with some of the remaining catsup mixture.
